Kait's Story

Kait and her dog, Bruce
Kait currently serves as a morning meteorologist in West Palm Beach, FL at WPTV-TV where she enjoys the challenge of forecasting in a tropical climate. She is an instructor for a graduate course called Earth's Climate Systems designed by the American Meteorological Society and NASA. Kait has earned her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the AMS.

Kait has been fascinated by Mother Nature from the very beginning. Born and raised in Texas, Kait was glued to the television anytime tornadoes threatened and always took the lead on getting the entire family into the safe spot of the house when the time came.

Kait followed her passion to the University of Missouri where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science. While at Mizzou, Kait didn't just cheer on her Tigers, she also taught a course on Storm Chasing for the University, was on the leadership board of the Meteorology Club, on the Mizzou Storm Chase Team, went to countless weather conventions, and helped with climate research. Kait also began providing on-air forecasts for local radio stations and KOMU-TV.

Interning with WFAA-TV in Dallas, TX was an excellent learning experience for Kait during college and before she had even graduated she landed her first job with WAKA-TV in Montgomery, AL as the Weekday Morning Meteorologist. There she covered everything from tornadoes to ice storms to hurricanes and also served as the community events coordinator where she built a close bond with local organizations. It even ended in adopting Bruce, a lovable mutt who captures hearts everywhere he goes. She also recently adopted a cat to add to her furry family.
